Let our team set up your test product

When you reach the “pick a product to test” step in onboarding, you can either set the test product up yourself in your theme editor (~5 min) or have the BetterReviews team handle it for you.
This page covers the “we’ll do it for you” track. If you’d rather do it yourself, see the in-app theme-editor flow — that path takes about 5 minutes and doesn’t require sharing access.
The new onboarding flow that surfaces this option in the dashboard is shipping shortly. The endpoint that backs it is already live; once the dashboard step is in place this page becomes the linked reference from the submission form.
What we set up for you
We’ll handle the one-product setup so you can see BetterReviews running on your store before deciding whether to roll it out to your full catalog.
Specifically, we’ll:
- Add the BetterReviews review widget to the product page template for the product you choose
- Verify your imported reviews show up on the product page
- Make sure the AI chat works end-to-end for that product
- Send you an email when everything is live
We do not change anything else. Your other products are untouched.
What we need from you
When you submit the form you can include:
- Product — the test product you want set up. You can pick from your catalog or paste a Shopify product ID
- Collaborator request code (optional) — the 4-character code shown in your Shopify admin under Settings → Users and permissions → Collaborators → Collaborator request code. Sharing this lets a teammate at BetterReviews request access without you needing to manually invite us
- Notes (optional) — anything specific you want us to know about this product or your theme
The collaborator request code is stored encrypted and only one BetterReviews team member can read it. It is never logged, never shared, and is automatically deleted along with the rest of your data if you uninstall the app.
Turnaround
We aim for one business day. If we hit a blocker — your theme uses an unusual structure, the product is missing fields we need, the collaborator code isn’t recognized — we’ll reply to the email address on file rather than guess.
You’ll get one email from reviews@betterreviews.app confirming the setup is live. After that, opening your BetterReviews dashboard takes you straight to the merchant home where you can try the AI chat on your own product.
What if I change my mind
You can ignore the request — nothing happens automatically. If you’d rather do the setup yourself before we get to it, switch to the self-serve track from the same onboarding screen. We close the ticket as soon as we see the widget already in place.
Privacy notes
- The collaborator request code is treated as protected customer data under our Shopify Level 2 access policy
- Submitting the form sends a notification to a private team Slack channel; the channel never displays the collab code in plaintext
- Per-store rate limit: 5 submissions per 24 hours. You won’t hit this in normal use; it exists to stop accidental form spam from breaking our triage queue
