Powered by BetterReviews
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Stores on the Free plan show a small “Powered by BetterReviews” attribution. It is the condition attached to a free plan that has no order caps: the line is how it pays for itself.
Paid plans can switch it off.
Where it appears
- The review widgets on your storefront — the review list, the star rating badge, the Q&A block, and the quote marquee
- The classic review form your customers fill in
- The AI chat, if you are using it
- The customer review hub, the page a multi-product review email opens
- The emails we send on your behalf — review requests and reminders
Each widget block carries its own line, so a page with more than one BetterReviews block shows it more than once.
It is one small line, “Powered by” followed by the BetterReviews logo, with a link back to betterreviews.app. It does not carry your customer’s data, it does not add a script, and it renders inside the widget’s own styling, so it inherits your theme’s font and text color.
In the emails it is plain text, and a vendor attribution and nothing more: a line naming the tool that sent the email, with no offer, no discount, and no call to action to buy anything. That matters, because review request emails are sent as transactional post-purchase messages, and promotional content would void that classification. See Review request emails → Marketing consent.
Turning it off
On any paid plan — Better, Studio, or any grandfathered plan (Founder, Starter, Growth, Scale, Reviews, Pro, Enterprise) — go to Settings → Branding and switch Show “Powered by BetterReviews” off. The change applies to the widgets, the form, the hub, and the emails.
On the Free plan the switch is shown but disabled. It is the paid entitlement that decides, checked on our side rather than in your theme, so editing theme settings or widget settings will not remove the line.
If you are on Free
Please leave it in place. Keeping the attribution visible is a condition of the Free plan (Terms of Service §8a) — hiding it with custom CSS or theme code is not permitted. If the line clashes with your design, tell us at [email protected] and we will look at it; we would rather fix the styling than have you hide it.
