    Stars show up on Google

Once Google approves your store for product ratings and you have 50 reviews across your catalog, stars usually appear within 2 to 4 weeks.

Built to Google's spec

A feed Google accepts the first time.

We follow Google's product reviews format to the letter and test our feed against Google's own schema. Star-only reviews and reviews with a link, email or phone number, which Google rejects, never make it in, and every review carries what Google needs to match it to the right product.

  • Matched by barcodeValid GTINs from your Shopify products, plus SKUs. Product URL as the fallback.
  • Only reviews Google takesApproved reviews with written text. Star-only ratings and anything with a link, email or phone number stay out.
  • Verified buyers markedReviews from real orders are flagged as verified purchases.
  • Private by defaultFirst name and last initial only. Never emails, order IDs or photos.

We watch it for you

Know Google is actually reading it.

Most feeds are set up once and forgotten until the stars quietly disappear. We rebuild yours every day, confirm each fetch really came from Google, and our team gets an alert if Google stops fetching or your feed falls behind.

  • "Last fetched by Google" on your integration card, verified, not guessed
  • New approved reviews reach Google within about a day
  • When a customer asks to be erased, their name comes off your feed right away

Questions about Google Shopping reviews

What does it cost?

Nothing extra. The Google Shopping feed is on every plan, including Free.

When will stars show on Google?

Google needs two things first: your store approved through its Product Ratings interest form, and at least 50 published reviews across your catalog. After the first fetch, stars usually appear within 2 to 4 weeks. Google sets that pace, not us.

Which reviews go into the feed?

Every approved, published review with written text and a star rating, with no cap. Google doesn't accept star-only ratings or reviews containing a link, email address or phone number, so we leave those out. If only the title has contact details, we send the review without its title.

How does Google match reviews to my products?

By barcode (GTIN) when your Shopify products have valid ones, which is the most reliable match. Otherwise by product URL on your store's main domain. We also send variant SKUs.

What do you share with Google?

The reviewer's first name and last initial, the title, text and rating, verified-buyer status, language, date and product details. Never the reviewer's email, order ID or photos.

I'm switching from another reviews app. Do I lose my Google stars?

No. Reviews you import into BetterReviews go into the same feed. Add our feed in Merchant Center, then remove your old app's source so Google doesn't receive each review twice.

How do I know it's working?

The integration card shows when Google last fetched your feed. We confirm the request really came from Google, and our team is alerted if Google stops fetching or the feed falls behind.

Do you support Google Seller Ratings or other marketplaces?

Not yet. Today it's product ratings on Google, star structured data in search, Klaviyo, and a Meta catalog feed our team sets up. Shop app sync is coming soon.
