The Free plan

Last updated: September 21, 2026

The Free plan is a real plan, not a trial. It costs $0, needs no card, and has no clock on it. You can run your store on it indefinitely.

It exists because almost nothing about collecting and displaying reviews is expensive for us to run. The one thing that is — the AI conversation — is what the paid plans are for.

What you get

Collection, uncapped. Unlimited orders, unlimited reviews, and unlimited review request emails with per-product timing and reminders. Nothing counts your orders and nothing is charged by volume. Sending is paced for deliverability — a new store ramps up over its first weeks, and sends are smoothed across the day rather than fired at once. Requests land on the classic review form: star rating, title, text, and photo or video upload.

Display. The review widgets, star rating badge, quote marquee and Q&A blocks, placed wherever you want them in the Shopify theme editor. Google rich snippets on your product pages.

Syndication. Google Shopping product ratings, Klaviyo (events, profile properties, and the AI-curated review feed), Shopify Flow, and a Meta catalog feed set up by our team on request. Shop app sync is coming soon.

Moderation and signals. The full moderation queue, editing, replies, auto-moderation presets, support-ticket routing, and review groups. Reviews you collect get the full AI analysis pass — sentiment, quality score, marketing-ready and support-routed tags. Imported reviews get a lighter analysis pass that produces the same fields, up to a generous per-store allowance; on a paid plan, imported reviews are re-scored with the full prompt.

Everything else you build on. The API and AI-agent skills, the multi-store viewer app, CSV and platform import (Okendo, Judge.me, and the ongoing mirror), full export at any time, and the weekly merchant digest.

The 50 AI conversations

The Free plan includes 50 AI-guided conversations in total — a lifetime allowance for the store, not a monthly one.

They come out of one pool shared by two things:

  • Conversations your real shoppers have, when they open a review link
  • Conversations you start in the conversation editor playground

So 20 playground conversations while you tune your prompt leaves 30 for shoppers. It is one number, and Settings → Your Plan shows what is left of it.

Up to 10 shopper chats a day. On top of the lifetime 50, your shoppers can start at most 10 AI conversations per day. It stops a single day — a bot or a burst of scripted traffic — from emptying the whole allowance before you notice. Shoppers past the tenth conversation that day get the classic review form instead, and the next day up to ten more can start, until the 50 run out. Playground conversations you start yourself are not counted against the daily 10 (they still spend the lifetime 50).

When the 50 are used up, nothing breaks. Shoppers who open a review link get the classic review form instead of the chat, and collection carries on exactly as before — same emails, same widgets, same moderation. See what happens after your 50 AI conversations.

To keep the chat running, subscribe to Better, which includes 1,000 AI-guided reviews a month.

”Powered by BetterReviews”

Free stores show a small “Powered by BetterReviews” line on the review widgets, the review form, the customer review hub, and the emails we send on your behalf. It is how a free plan pays for itself. Paid plans can turn it off. Full detail: “Powered by BetterReviews”.

What is not on Free

  • AI conversations past your first 50, or past 10 shopper chats in a single day — shoppers get the classic form instead
  • Studio ad creatives, and early access to Insights — themes, personas and the quote bank
  • Product-page AI content — generated summaries, feature bullets, and SEO copy
  • AI Q&A generation for product pages
  • Claims and rights management — clearing quotes before they run in ads
  • The Reactiv integration
  • Turning off “Powered by BetterReviews”
  • A dedicated CSM — Free plan support is the docs and email; paid plans get a dedicated CSM on Slack

Support on Free

Email [email protected] and a person reads it. These user guides cover the product in detail, and founder-led onboarding is available if you want help getting set up. A dedicated CSM on Slack, reading your dashboard every month, comes with the paid plans.

Moving between Free and paid

Upgrading is Settings → Your Plan, approve the Shopify charge, and billing starts that day. There is no trial clock. When your subscription goes active we re-run analysis with the full prompt across your library, newest first, up to 25,000 reviews.

Cancelling drops you back to the Free plan. Your widget keeps rendering, your review requests keep going out on the classic form, syndication keeps serving, and your reviews, settings and widgets are kept. The paid marketing surfaces stop — including the Reactiv integration; Reactiv’s storefront content is stripped — and the “Powered by” line comes back. The AI chat does not stop dead: it drops to the Free plan’s 50-conversation pool and runs until whatever is left of that is spent.

Fair use

The Free plan is for a Shopify store collecting reviews from its own customers. Sending is paced for deliverability on every plan, free and paid. Separately, we reserve the right to apply volume limits to, suspend, or withdraw an account being used to send unsolicited email or to generate artificial review or email volume — see Terms of Service §8a.
