How to Switch from Feefo to BetterReviews
Moving product reviews off Feefo: what the export looks like, what comes across, what happens to your Google stars, and the cutover order that keeps both intact.
Who has made this move
LoveCrafts moved 211,403 product reviews from Feefo to BetterReviews. More than 150,000 of them, the reviews with written text, now go to Google Shopping in the product ratings feed BetterReviews rebuilds every day. Google doesn’t accept star-only ratings, so those stay on the storefront.
Product reviews and service reviews are two different things
Feefo collects two kinds of review:
- Product reviews, about a specific item. These move to BetterReviews and show on your product pages.
- Service reviews, about your store as a whole. These usually feed your Google seller rating, the stars next to your ads.
Google does not count imported reviews toward a seller rating, no matter which app you move to. If your seller rating comes from Feefo, plan for it. Keep Feefo’s service reviews running, or accept that the seller rating rebuilds from new reviews. We will walk through the trade-off with you on the first call.
Common fears addressed
”Will I lose my reviews?”
No. Feefo’s export is read as-is: rating, title, review text, the date Feefo received it, and its moderation status. Reviews still waiting in Feefo’s queue come across as pending, not published. A person on our team runs the import and checks the review counts with you, product by product.
”What about my Google Shopping stars?”
BetterReviews builds a Google product ratings feed from your approved reviews, imported ones included. Google matches reviews to products by GTIN, SKU or product URL. If your Shopify products have no barcodes, the feed matches on product URL instead. We set the feed up in Merchant Center with you before you turn Feefo off.
”What about rich results in search?”
The BetterReviews widget outputs a Product block with your star rating, price and availability. If Feefo added its own structured data to your theme, remove it so Google sees one Product block, not two. We do this cleanup with you and test your pages in Google’s Rich Results Test before you switch.
”Month to month?”
Yes. No contracts and no annual commitment. You can export your reviews and leave at any time.
The migration process
1. Export your product reviews from Feefo
In the Feefo Hub, open Feedback and use the download button. Feefo emails a link to the address on your Hub account, and the link works for 24 hours, so download the file the same day. Large catalogs can take a few minutes to arrive.
2. Hand the file to us
Install BetterReviews and upload the file in onboarding, or send it to us. Feefo’s columns are recognized automatically, so there is nothing to remap. A person on our team runs the import and checks the counts.
3. Run side by side, then cut over
Keep Feefo live while we set up the widget on a few products and connect the Google feed. Just before you switch, export from Feefo once more so reviews collected during the overlap come across too. Then swap the widgets, remove Feefo’s theme code, and turn on collection in BetterReviews.
The BetterReviews team handles the import and helps with widget setup. The white-glove migration is included on Better and Studio: no setup fee and no migration charge on top of your plan.
