Store reviews page

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Store reviews are reviews of your shop as a whole rather than of one product — “great service, fast shipping, lovely packaging”. If you came from Okendo, these are the reviews Okendo calls site reviews, usually shown on a /pages/reviews page. BetterReviews imports them as Store reviews (see importing reviews), and two theme blocks put them on your storefront:

  • Store Reviews — a full reviews page: your shop’s overall rating, then the list of store reviews
  • Store Rating — a small badge with your shop’s stars and review count that links to that page

Both blocks can be added to pages and to your home page. They don’t appear on product pages; product pages keep the review widget and star rating badge, which show only that product’s reviews.

Before you start

  • You have store reviews in BetterReviews. Imported ones show up on the Reviews tab with a Store review label; use the Type filter to see just them (see review moderation).

The Store Reviews block loads everything it needs itself — you don’t need to turn on any app embed for it.

1. Create the Reviews page

If you’re replacing Okendo, you may already have a page at /pages/reviews. You can reuse it: skip to step 2, and remove Okendo’s widget from the page there.

Otherwise:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Pages and click Add page.
  2. Title it Reviews. Leave the content empty — the block supplies everything.
  3. Under Search engine listing, check that the URL handle is reviews, so the page lives at yourstore.com/pages/reviews.
  4. Save. You’ll assign the page’s template in step 2.

2. Give the page a template and add the Store Reviews block

App blocks are added in the theme editor, on a page template. Use a template of its own so the block appears only on this page, not on every page of your store.

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize on your active theme.
  2. From the page selector at the top of the editor, choose Pages, then Create template. Name it reviews and base it on your default page template.
  3. In the new template, click Add section, open the Apps tab, and choose Store Reviews. Move it where you want it (most stores put it right under the page title).
  4. Click Save.
  5. Back in your Shopify admin, open the Reviews page from step 1, set Theme template to reviews, and save.

Open yourstore.com/pages/reviews to check it.

Coming from Okendo? Once the BetterReviews block is showing your store reviews, remove Okendo’s site reviews block from the page so shoppers don’t see two lists. If your old page used a different handle, add a URL redirect from the old address to /pages/reviews in Online Store → Navigation → URL redirects (Shopify admin) so existing links keep working.

3. Optional: add the Store Rating badge to your home page

  1. In the theme editor, switch to the Home page.
  2. Click Add section, open the Apps tab, and choose Store Rating. Drop it wherever a quick trust signal helps — under the hero, near a featured collection, above the footer.
  3. In the block settings, Link to is /pages/reviews by default. If your reviews page lives elsewhere, change it to that address. It must start with / (a page on your store) or https://; anything else falls back to /pages/reviews.
  4. Click Save.

The badge can also go on any other page template. It shows your shop’s stars, average and store review count (for example ★★★★★ 4.8 · 1,203 store reviews); clicking it takes shoppers to your reviews page. While you have no approved store reviews, the badge shows nothing on your storefront (the theme editor shows a sample so you can place it).

The badge takes its star color, text color, size and alignment from your product badge settings (Display → Star Rating Badge in the BetterReviews admin), so the two badges match.

What shoppers see

The header — a Store reviews heading, your shop’s average star rating, the total number of store reviews, and a 1–5 star breakdown. Tapping a bar filters the list to that star rating. Until you have an approved store review, the header is hidden and the list says “No store reviews yet”.

The toolbar — rating filter pills (5★ to 1★), a search box that matches review titles and text, and a sort menu: Newest (default), Highest Rated, Lowest Rated and Most Detailed.

The list — your store reviews, newest first, with a Show more reviews button to load the next page. Each review shows the star rating, title, the full review text (never cut short), reviewer name (first name and last initial, e.g. “Jane D.”), the date, and — following your widget settings — the verified-buyer badge, topic tags, attached photos and videos (tap to open the lightbox), and your reply behind a Store reply button.

What the block leaves out — compared with the product review widget, there’s no Write a Review button, no helpful / not helpful voting, no product links (store reviews aren’t about a product), and no metrics row, “Mentioned most” section or photo gallery.

The block’s colors, corners and text size follow your Reviews Widget settings (Display → Reviews Widget in the BetterReviews admin), so it matches the widget on your product pages.

Which reviews appear

Store reviews go through the same moderation as product reviews. Every approved store review is shown, whatever its rating — 1-star reviews included. There’s no minimum-rating setting, and the average and count in the header are worked out from exactly the reviews in the list.

Pending, rejected and archived reviews aren’t shown. Product reviews never appear here, and store reviews never appear in the product review widget.

When the numbers update

The header, the list and the badge update on their own when a store review is approved, rejected, archived, edited or deleted, and when an import adds new ones — usually within a few minutes. You don’t need to re-save the theme.

SEO

The Store Reviews and Store Rating blocks don’t add structured data (JSON-LD) to the page. Google doesn’t show review stars in search results for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own site, so there’s no rich result to win here. The review text itself is part of the page and can be read by search engines.

Your product pages are different: the review widget outputs product structured data for product reviews.

FAQ

Why is there no “Write a review” button? For now, store reviews come from imports — Okendo site reviews, or CSV rows with product_id set to site_review (see CSV import and export). Collecting new store reviews from your customers isn’t available yet. Your review request emails and the product page Write a Review button collect product reviews, which show on your product pages.

Is this the same as Google’s “Store reviews” or seller ratings? No. Google’s Store reviews (seller ratings — the stars next to your shop name in Google Ads and Shopping) are a separate Google program, fed by Google-approved review partners and Google’s own customer surveys. BetterReviews store reviews are shown on your own site only; they aren’t sent to Google, and they aren’t included in the Google Product Ratings feed, which carries product reviews only.

Can I hide low-rated store reviews from the page? No. Every approved store review is shown, the same as on product pages. Moderation is for reviews that break your guidelines (spam, abuse, personal details) — see approving, rejecting and deleting reviews — not for removing honest criticism. To answer a critical review publicly, post a reply.

Can I put the Store Reviews block on a product page? No. It’s limited to pages and the home page. On product pages, use the review widget.
