Reactiv

Reactiv builds native mobile apps for Shopify stores. Connecting Reactiv to BetterReviews puts your BetterReviews content inside that app:

  • Star ratings next to the product title
  • Your reviews, with filters, helpful votes and a “write a review” button that opens the BetterReviews chat
  • A short list of product highlights (up to 6 bullets per product), with an optional “Customer reviews” heading below them

You create a key in BetterReviews and paste it into Reactiv. You can regenerate or revoke it at any time.

Before you start

  • Plan. The Reactiv integration is included on the Better and Studio plans, and on the older Growth, Scale, Founder, Pro and Enterprise plans. It is not included on Starter, the legacy Reviews plan, or the Free plan.
  • A Reactiv app for your store, with access to Reactiv’s BetterReviews integration.

Connect Reactiv

  1. In BetterReviews, open Settings → Integrations and click the Reactiv card.
  2. Click Generate API key.
  3. Copy the key from the yellow banner. It is shown only once. After you close the banner or leave the page, BetterReviews only shows the first few characters.
  4. In Reactiv, open Integrations → BetterReviews and paste the key.

The Reactiv card now shows Connected, plus when the key was created, when Reactiv last used it, and when your mobile content last synced.

Edit mobile content for a product

Star ratings and reviews show up for every product on their own. The highlights block is set per product:

  1. On the Reactiv card, click Edit mobile content and pick a product.
  2. Turn on Override the bullets shown on mobile and write up to 6 bullets. If you publish a Product Page Optimization for the product, its feature bullets can fill these in automatically.
  3. Optionally turn on Show reviews summary to add a “Customer reviews” heading below your bullets.
  4. Use Show this mobile content block to hide everything for this product on mobile without losing your edits.

A product with no bullets shows no highlights block, even if Show reviews summary is on. Its star rating and reviews still show.

Regenerate or revoke the key

  • Regenerate key creates a new key and turns the old one off immediately. Reactiv stops showing your content until you paste the new key into Reactiv. Use this if you think the key has leaked.
  • Revoke key turns the key off and removes the mobile content from your products. To confirm, type DISCONNECT. Your per-product edits are kept, so generating a new key brings them back.

You can generate (or regenerate) a key up to 5 times in 24 hours, and revoke up to 5 times in 24 hours. These limits are shared with the API (below), so a key made from the card and one made through the API count toward the same 5.

Connect with the API

If you (or an AI agent working for you) manage BetterReviews through the API, you can connect Reactiv without opening the card. You need a store API key with Read & Write access (Settings → Developer).

  • GET /api/v1/integrations/reactiv shows the same status as the card. A Read-only key is enough.
  • POST /api/v1/integrations/reactiv/connect creates the Reactiv key and returns it once. If Reactiv is already connected, it answers 409 and leaves the current key working. Send {"rotate": true} to replace it; the old key stops working immediately.
  • POST /api/v1/integrations/reactiv/disconnect revokes the key, the same as Revoke key.

Don’t create a general API key named “reactiv” and send it to Reactiv. It won’t work: Reactiv only accepts the key this endpoint (or the card) creates.

Every connect and disconnect made through the API also notifies the BetterReviews team.

What Reactiv receives

The key only works on the Reactiv partner endpoint for your store. It cannot read your other BetterReviews data, change your settings, or reach any other store. Other BetterReviews API endpoints reject it.

Reactiv reads the same published reviews and star ratings your storefront shows, plus the mobile content you set for each product. It never gets a reviewer’s email, or customer or order details.

If your plan changes

If you move to a plan without the Reactiv integration, the card shows a plan warning and the mobile content is removed from your products right away. Your key and your per-product edits are kept. Upgrade again and everything comes back with the same key, or click Revoke key to turn it off for good.
